Application
PAISD Admission
Admission to PAISD's Wilson Early College High School Program will be limited to students who reside in the PAISD and who meet the eligibility requirements for enrollment in an Early College Program and Dual Enrollment Program under Applicable Law. As was the case for the initial cohort admitted in 2016, the PAISD and LSCPA recruitment teams will focus on identifying highly-capable students that may or may not be experiencing academic success. Recruitment efforts will also focus on at-risk students, historically underserved student populations, and first generation college students. Additionally, PAISD shall comply with all recruitment and notification requirements of Chapter 28 of the Texas Education Code. Students will be required to complete applications for both PAISD's WECHS and LSCPA. The Wilson ECHS application will be due on February 3, 2023. Students must meet established LSCPA admission requirements for each college class upon enrollment.
LSCPA Admission
Decisions regarding college admission, college readiness, the ability to perform college-level work, or otherwise function in a college environment shall rest within the sole discretion of LSCPA. Enrollment, or continued enrollment, in LSCPA by students enrolled in the PAISD Wilson ECHS Program shall not be considered an entitlement.

(Cohort Recruitment and Selection Plan)
Port Arthur ISD has developed a variety of recruiting strategies and selection criteria to attract and enroll population of students in the Early College High School Program, which follows the guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency. Criterion included in the selection process are comprised of a combination of dimensions of students’ demographic, ethnic, and socio-economic characteristics. Woodrow Wilson Early College High School selects each cohort of 100 students through a blind lottery where all applicants are included. This process involves a variety of stakeholders such as parents and community members.
Key recruitment strategies include presentations made at both PAISD middle schools by Early College High School administrators, teachers, student leaders, guided 8th grade tours that include presentations made by guest speakers from both LSCPA and WWECHS campuses, distribution of brochures to middle school campuses and the Port Arthur Public Library, as well as, guidance provided to students and parents by both 8th grade middle school counselors. Additionally, parent meetings are held and Spanish speaking media are made aware of the recruitment events to ensure the dissemination of information to the Hispanic community. Given the goals and priorities of the program, the PAISD leadership strongly advocates for strict adherence to guidelines provided within the ECHS Blue Print.
